What is brick facade dandruff?
Salt is the main substance that causes dandruff in a brick facade. Salt is found in building materials such as brick, mortar, cement, lime, sand and clay. Common salts include calcium sulfate, sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, vanadium sulfate, calcium carbonate, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, and manganese oxide, which leave a white or yellowish appearance on the facade.
Water is the second substance that makes up dandruff. During the execution of the brick facade, the water used in the mixture of cement and mortar with salt reacts chemically, which increases with rain and snow and provides the basis for dandruff and whiteness. Then, as the water evaporates, the salts remain on the surface of the brick, which in general terms, dandruff occurs.
